Happy New Year

As we get ready to begin the new liturgical year this Sunday [First Sunday of Advent], my thoughts turn to this past year. In so many ways, I have 'dropped the ball'. Even in the midst of this, I experience the love of the Lord through my friends, my brothers and sisters. This is both an encouragement and a challenge.

Firmum est cor meum. Such was the motto of the seminary I attended. "My heart is steadfast." Lord, may my heart be steadily set on You. May I not see everything in terms of what I do for You and Your people (where I so miserably fail); but in terms of allowing myself to be loved by You. Thank You!

first entry

I can't imagine that anyone will read this. So, if you're reading ... you are already a surprise from the Lord!

I want to consecrate this blog, indeed all my life, to the Lord Jesus Christ. I call this "Corner of the Vineyard" as it can only express what I see in my little corner of the vineyard. I expect that this will mostly be musings of my own; although I can see putting forth gems that I may discover from another. You'll be able to recognize them; they will be so much better than what I can say.

It is about 3:30 on a Saturday afternoon. I am looking at my notes for preaching this weekend. Lord, for the sake of Your people, bless the word that comes forth. May it be Your Word, what You desire Your people to hear. Amen.

I'm not sure what else to say right now. I promise to pray for all who might look at this blog. I hope to be somewhat faithful to keeping it current.

Peace.
